When I read the UX Design list of what to expect in 2019, several resonated with many of the things that we discovered while working on this project.
We must be mindful of the impact of technology on the user's life. (See Daniel's scary blog post). We tried to design something that would enhance our users' lives without making them feel that they were being personally monitored.
We must avoid "canned methodologies' for design or we miss nuances and the opportunity to do things differently. We enjoyed the games and the debates although sometimes the open brief made us frustrated and required careful management of team dynamics.
We should shift from user-centric to society-centric and think about how what we are doing should affect our society and not just our individual users. So we thought about neighbourhoods and other cities and not just individuals looking at screens. We should think about the context of what we are doing and not just individual moments.
